Trek to Peth Kothaligad Fort

This was my second trek after the ease of lockdown , actually after the visit of Peb fort we thought of visiting Kalavantin fort but due to the spread of covid pandemic almost all other forts were closed so after 1 hour of calling friends and guides in villages we decided to go to the Peth fort.

This time we were 5 school friends , the mode of travel was through a car it's actually good if you have a car , just google Hotel Rushikesh Kothaligad and park your car there , the trek will start from there.

Once you have started the trek the tar road will divide into two, take the left turn road which goes upwards from there you will walk at least half hour to 1 hour to reach the base village 'Peth village' . The road during monsoon is very messy and tie your shoe laces tightly as there is way too much mud there.

After reaching the Peth village , go through the village or ask anyone for the entrance there you will see the above board and from there the actual trek starts , the way up is so good and not at all tiring . We were accompanied by 4 dogs throughout the way. After the entrance you will not be confused what so ever its an easy route.

As you can see in the pictures the scenery is so good , I will call this trek one of the best one day treks. Once the mud road ends you will reach the entrance of the fort , from there also there are two ways one leading to the caves where you may encounter some bats and another leading to the upper part of the fort.

The staircase part of the fort is the easiest and also the fastest route, once the stairs end you may encounter the main door of the fort. That's where almost 99% part of the trek ends. From there you have few steps to reach the top most part of the fort.

Descending down is not that hard , you can have your lunch where you may find plain road also when we started descending there was rain so the weather was almost foggy with no vision at all , from my experience one can easily complete this trek in 3 to 4 hours .
