This is one of the best and most tiring fort to visit during the monsoon season. The best part about this trek is that it's not that famous and many people don't know about this trek so you can actually enjoy nature as there are not many people on the fort , but when we did this trek there was a huge crowd up there on the fort engaged in restoration of this magnificent fort. So starting from the travel part , we were a group of 5 friends , all of us met at Dombivli and travelled upto the base village Washivali in my friends car. The way up to the base village is good and is also not that far from Mumbai .Once reaching the base village you can park your vehicle there and ask for the directions for starting the trek.
I warn you again this looks like a simple trek but it will take you atleast 5 hours to complete this trek as the way up to the fort from this base village is not that steep and direct, it leads you through a forest making you go round the mountain and then finally reach the steps of the fort, most of the turns are confusing so only when you are drained very much there is a possibility of you losing the way. Also once you reach the Mahadarwaja the top of the fort is not more than half hour from it.
This is the 1st appearance of the fort from this way
On reaching the top of the fort you can really have a nice view as there is so much fog during the monsoon season . Most of the fortification and stairs can't be seen properly due to erosion and natural reasons. Still there is a vast section of the fort to look into ,you can have your lunch here and then start descending. I was again remembered how long this trek was as the only thought I had during coming down was to get in the car somehow and go to sleep , also adding to our weakness we also encountered rain. Could not write much about this trek as I don't remember the way properly.
Also some videos from the top section..
