Tahuli is a peak in Ambernath and is very near for Mumbaikars, this peak does not have any fortifications but has a unique history. Adjacent to it are the Hajimalang and the Malang gad forts. One can easily reach the base by using google maps, parking is available but prefer coming by 2 wheelers as the road leading to the village is quite narrow and sometimes water logged . Also there are many theft issues here so don't keep your valuables in the storage compartment carry them with you. If possible park your vehicles near the last house don't take them up to the water falls ahead , many people try this and most of their time is wasted in keeping the tires out of mud.
This is not an easy trek it will take a lot of toll on your body, I think the total distance we will cover after the completion of this trek is around 23kms. All along the starting point you will find many small streams and small waterfalls. There are enough arrows showing you the correct path but still carry offline maps on your phone just in case of emergencies. Unlink other treks the starting path of this peak is very difficult, you start gaining elevation very fast and the steep climbing will really make you tired, but don't loose hope as the further part is not that hard.
Keep your GPS and offline maps ON most of the times as there are paths leading you to Hajimalang and Malanggad, so be careful. After covering this hardest 1st patch you will encounter a nice plateau from where you can have a view of the magnificent plateau which is continuation of the Chanderi caves and on your back you will have the view of the Tahuli peak. Another half hour of this trek you will reach another plateau to rest on. Then comes the best trail which leads you to the small village which has a temple and a few houses , be careful as the route has a left turn which leads you to the Tahuli Reverse Waterfalls.
After crossing the temple in the village, trek for another one hour and you will reach the top of the fort. When we reached the top ,there was so much fog and wind that we could not rest there for more than 10 minutes and started our descend to visit the reverse waterfalls.
While we started descending we were struck with heavy rainfall, the route was pretty slippery and we took our time to reach the reverse waterfalls. On the top there are graves of some important people from the history so please google it for more information ,you have to remove your shoes in order to visit them.
Once you have reached the reverse waterfalls ,have some rest and enjoy the pleasant view but also be safe as there is a steep valley ahead. Here are some pics and videos of the Tahuli Reverse Waterfall.
Personally speaking we enjoyed lot during this trek but received a pretty big shock when we reached the parking. One of my friend's phone was stolen from the storage space of his scooty, so again I am warning you to keep your valuables with you even if there is heavy rainfall during the trek. The locals told us that this was not the 1st incident and many such incidents had occurred in the past.
Here is the .gpx file for the trek open it with the OSMAND app and have fun .
