Bhaskargad Trek

And another monsoon trek, this time to Bhaskargad or also known as Basgad. It is a fort not known much due to the popularity of Harihar fort. So starting from travel we caught the 1st Mumbai local heading to Kasara railway station , after reaching Kasara you can either catch a taxi/jeep or the best ST bus up to the base village Nirgunpada . Once you reach the base there is a board showing you the entrance of the fort.

Yes the mist there is on another level in monsoon ,it's actually very hard to find the correct way in this weather but still there are markings and enough indications for the right way. After walking for half and hour you will come across a small stream which is actually fast flowing in this season but in summer and winters many people make the mistake of climbing through this water way as they think of it as a nice and broader route so be careful and follow the right path.

Ok as expected ,as we reached the base of the actual fort that is the stairs we encountered heavy rain and in this weather the steps were too slippery ,somehow we reached the top of the fort . It took us around 2 to 3 hours to complete this trek. Once we were on the top the rain stopped and the fog and the clouds covered the entire sky above and front of us. Of course you can see forts like Harihar, Brahmagiri and many others from the top but the weather conditions when we were on top were very different as you can see in the pics and videos below.

Here is the view from the top......

On the way back the stairs and the whole portion had become very slippery so we slowed our approach and spent some more time exploring the top section of the fort . In short it was one of the best one day trek I had and the weather was so pleasing and good .Also you can carry your own food to have a nice relaxed time in the shades of the clouds at the top.
